This Man Stands Alone

This dramatisation of the true story of a black civil rights activisit who, following Martin Luther King's assassination, goes home to a small southern town and runs for sheriff against a popular segregationist was "inspired" by events in the life of Sheriff Thomas E. Gilmore but was emasculated by severe last-minute editing by the network. The movie was originally filmed in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, as a two-hour telefeature under the title "Lawman Without a Gun," which is its subsequent title in syndication.

The (brief) information below comes from a promotional pack for this TV movie, but regards to Louis Gossett, Jr's career, ie: there was very little on Barry (or the rest of the cast) contained in this pack, which included the original master video tape, copy of post production script, photos (mainly of Louis Gossett), his contract and legal papers/correspondence and specifically relating to the film, cast list & music cue sheet.
