Unsung Heroes of The Horrors

by Barry Brown and James Coughlin

I was thrilled to learn of the existence of this site and have been poring over many of the posts. From late 1975 until his tragic death, I corresponded with Barry. We spent over two years collaborating on 'Unsung Heroes of the Horrors,' which, as you know, was never published. After our original arrangement with Calvin Beck and Collier Macmillan fell through, James Brown helped me try to market the manuscript with other publishers - but to no avail. I had been thinking of Barry a lot lately - 28 years is so hard to fathom. He was such a creative, sensitive, caring individual, with so many talents. Those of you who have read Jim Brown's 'Final Performance' and 'L.A. Diaries' have a sense of the demons with which he struggled as well. I am so happy there are a group of people keeping his memory fresh.

Note: This section is still in the early stages. It should be noted the work here was researched and written 29-30 years ago. I am grateful to Jim Brown for sending me part of the manuscript. Thanks also to Jim Coughlin for the chapter on Allison Hayes (and of course his own chapters which are included), also Ray at flickhead.com for the chapter on Bruno VeSota.

It is an ambition of mine to eventually replace the layout of this section with a virtual book - it all takes time!
